In the summer of 1995, Bette of Roses was everywhere for me. I was 13, and those songs imprinted themselves into my memory. The lead single “To Deserve You”became a beloved LGBT dance classic, (peaking at #2 on the Billboard Dance Chart), but so much of the album never made it to the club, even though it begged for it.
So for the 30th anniversary of the album and in honor of Bette Midler's 80th birthday, I have revisited six key tracks and rebuilt them from scratch, creating entirely new productions that bring them to the dance floor, while keeping the emotional core of the originals intact.
